Thankful Thursday Blog Hop: Dad Is Home

thankful thursday blog hop maxwell 04112024

Hello everyone, it’s me Maxwell and I’m here for Angel Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. Thanks to you all for stopping by. We are always thankful to each of you for joining us!  Each and every Thursday we share the things for which we are most thankful and we always enjoy reading all of the things you are thankful for too. If you are new to Angel Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop, thanks for hopping in, we really do get excited when new blogger pals join us!

Today, as you might have guessed, we are all thankful that our Dad is home with us. We are so happy! Anyways, I’m going to turn the blog over to Dad because I know you want to hear from him. Take it away Dad…

Believe me, I’m thankful to be home too. As Simon told you on Tuesday, I did not have a heart attack. The Emergency Team could have said follow up with your Cardiologist and sent me home. They didn’t do that, they decided to admit me to the hospital so they could do further tests to try and hunt down what was causing the problems. Tuesday I had an Echocardiogram of my heart to make sure all the valves were working properly. I then had another CT study of my heart with the contrast injection so they could see all of the veins and vessels in my heart (the Emergency Doctor had also order a CT Scan of my heart aorta area previously).

The second CT Scan showed several areas with possible blockage and one of the heart veins had what appeared to be a “significant” blockage. So, the next step was to take a look see. Then later Tuesday evening I had Heart Cath where they went into my heart via the vein in my wrist. There was several areas of minimal blockage and the view that appeared to be significant was close to 60% blocked. They don’t place stents unless the blockage is in excess of 70%. So the treatment will be medical with meds at this point. They made some changes in my meds and I have a follow up with my Cardiologist in mid May. Basically, my heart functions are good and the potential trouble spots will be monitored and rechecked annually.

However, that didn’t answer the question as to why I felt so lousy to begin with and ended up in the hospital. The Internal Medicine Team determined that I have Underactive Thyroid (Hypothyroidism) and I am already on meds for that. That could have been a big contributing factor and it probably is the culprit. I want to say that I am very thankful for the wonderful medical professionals that took such good care of me, the Doctors, Nurses, Technicians and the rest of the staff were terrific. I’m also thankful to my loving wife for getting me to the hospital quickly and let me tell you, she had her paws full with meds and multiple feedings of eight kitties and multiple ferals. Plus she spent lots of time with me and the big hospital is a 50 minute drive from our house.

I’m am also thankful to all of you for the outpouring of love and support, we all appreciate it more than you’ll ever know. There were so many of you I doubt that I can actually thank each of you personally but please know I felt the love.

So, what are you thankful for today? Tell us in the comments and then join us for our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.  Hey Pet Bloggers, don’t forget to leave your daily link over at The Cat Blogosphere for a chance to grab an entry for the end of the month drawing.  Okay, that’s it for now!  Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! Hooray for being home and not needing stents! It does sound like you have a great medical team and I do hope the meds prevent any recurrences of those scary ER trips.

WELCOME HOME Dad. Boy are we glad to hear you are OK. I am guessing non-stents are a good thing because you don’t need them. BUT I am just so glad you are back home.

That is marvelous news! We are so glad you are home! And also that you can be treated without a major procedure. We’ll keep purring for the medication to work and to help you to feel much better really soon! And Maxwell, what a handsome portrait of you!

Dearest Terry, So glad that I just got up from bed, with umbrella and flashlight, to the gazebo as it is pouring down. Missing two kitties, Spooky boy and his sister Spunky. I saw two sets of eyes and carried Spunky under the umbrella home. Spooky was brave enough to walk with me through the rain. Toweled him dry and I wanted to sit and stretch my back (hurting around stent–graft area) and opened my MacBook. This is good news and let’s hope the meds will do their work! Tomorrow I have to get up at 6:00 AM and bring… Read more »

Our first thankful is that Dad Terry is home, and that his condition can be treated with medications. Our mom has hypothyroidism, and she usually knows when her numbers are out of whack, as her eyes start twitching. If that is what caused the problem that took you to the hospital, we are so grateful to everyone there who persisted in finding what possible underlying factors might be lurking. Take good care of yourself. All those kitties need you! With continued purrs, prayers and POTP and a big warm hug from our mom. XOCK, angels Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May,… Read more »

I am thankful to hear from you directly today. That you are home and things are going well and you are being very closely monitored. Congratulations to your sweet wife for being kind enough to put a couple post out while you were in the hospital. I would say you shouldn’t get up and try to cut grass today.

Terry. I’m so glad you’re home and are receiving excellent medical care. Continued prayers (and purrs from my angels) to you and Celesta. My dad had a stent put in last August and he’s doing well now, it’s a common procedure if/when you need one. Hopefully the meds will manage things just fine. As for thyroid issues, I deal with hypothyroidism and have for 35 years, so yeah, when it’s off, you certainly can feel lousy! I hope you start to feel much better with the meds, am glad you kept advocating for yourself and that they caught it. ❤️🙏

There really is no place like home. These days they want you in and out fast, which is nice. Hopefully managing things with your meds will work well and you won’t need a stent, but if you do, Mom says it is a simple procedure and not bad at all. We are so happy you are doing well and are back home where you belong!

Oh WOW, I’m so happy you’re alright! It sounds like your doctors were really on the ball and I’m glad that they were making such a discovery quickly. Anytime, I hear the word heart attack it just chokes me up so badly. Daddy had a “Widow Maker” last August which he survived for a short time before complications with his lungs took him from us, so please do take extra good care of yourself! I’m glad your wife has a clear head on her shoulders handling the situations so beautifully. God is good and you’re back home again! I’m sure… Read more »

So happy to get an update from The Dad…..what a journey he (and your Mom) have had. Sounds like the doctors know just what to monitor in the future AND how to deal with the present with meds and closely watching. We hope all is well now and just in case, we will continue with POTP and prayers!! WE ARE THANKFUL for the update.

I am thankful that you are ok, back home, and not in need of invasive surgery!! As to your under active thyroid, I understand that SO well as I was “officially” diagnosed with an under active thyroid when I was 18 months old. It was our family doctor who insisted – for a full year before my parents were advised of my diagnosis – that the hospital in NYC continue testing (on a monthly basis) until they found my problem. He was so sure that my “problem” was related to my thyroid, that he finally consulted with the Chief MD… Read more »

Memories of Eric and Flynn

I am very glad you are back home, Terry. I have been away for a few days and Feedly does not work well on my phone. I did get Ann’s email earlier this week so was able to visit from there. Ivor had very similar probably 15 years ago and they told him one of his veins was like a string of sausages. They also decided to treat him with medication rather than insert stents and it is working well for him. Sending you very best wishes.

We are so thankful you are home, Terry. It certainly doesn’t sound like a very pleasant experience and you must have felt very anxious as well. The thyroid thing can have a wide range of symptoms.

He would wake up tired and feeling unwell in general. I know the doctors must change the dosage if things get too bad. Perhaps it’s something to follow up on.

I hope all the problem areas get ironed out as soon as possible. Hugs, Wendy and Dani
