Sister Saturday with Seal On Being Prepared

sister saturday seal 01 07122025

Hello everyone, it’s me Seal and I’m here today with a SIster Saturday PSA, that’s a Paw Service Announcement. I do have furry paws so that’s a purrfect thing for me today. Anyways, about my PSA, just look around at what is happening on the TV thing, if you dare. We need to make sure that our Peeps are prepared to protect us and themselves. Always have a plan in place and practice it.

There have been floods, thunderstorms, wild fires and now we are in hurricane season. Each requires a different type of safety planning. But the important part is that you and your Peeps think about it and how you can handle safety and evacuation plans if it comes to that. Last year we experienced hurricane damage in our neighborhood, but we still felt lucky.

I think you all know that we don’t do political here on our blog, so this is not a political thing. It’s important that you do not rely on the government to protect or help you. Yes, they might, but you have to prepare yourselves, that’s the only way to make sure that you have a chance of being safe.

  1. It is important for all of us to have a plan – you never know – especially with weather because it has a mind of its’ own. We live up on a hill so flooding won’t happen up here BUT we have lots of HUGE trees all around so there’s that to worry about with wind. As far as electricity goes it can be out for hours and hours so Mom and Dad ordered some cool lanterns last year…..and we have a fireplace for winter if electricity is out and it’s cold. Life is full of challenges that’s for sure but being PURRRRPARED is super important!!

    Hugs, Teddy

  2. Seal we thank you for the reminders of how to plan action in our own house should there be a fire or a tornado. The three of us must get out safely. At your house that’s way more. We count on the weatherman to give us alerts about bad storms coming. And we always pray that nothing catches fire.

  3. First off, Seal- you are absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Secondly, you’re right, preparation is key. Even here, where we’re relatively safe, dad made sure he, mom, and I have a safe place to huddle in the event of a major storm. We had a brief tornado watch the other night when the sky turned a frightening greenish-gray, but thankfully, nothing came of it and the watch was soon cancelled. This is all excellent, useful advice, which everyone should pay attention to.

  4. Seal, what lovely pictures of you, as you make all your wise plans! It’s very important, as you say. We were in an EF-4 tornado and even after years of instructions from weather personnel about what to do, there are things we wish we’d done differently that day.

  5. You beautiful girl! No, never at any time could we just sit by and expect the government to wrap us up safely in weather troubles. We are on our own of course, and like you and your family, we need to plan how best to prepare for disaster. XXX

  6. Thanks Seal. I heard Mommy and Daddy talking about that stuff before they left town yesterday. They said they’re too high up for flooding. We’re too far off the coasts to get hurricanes. And they have a plan where to go to safety in the house in case of tornadoes. They’ve actually taken us there with them when there is a tornado warning here. They grab blankies and snacks and flashlights and of course water, their phones and stuff to read. Oh, and they’ve already done other stuff for what they call “intrastructure” (or something like that) failure. Hmm, let’s see…solar panels and that loud, scary, whole house generator. And are talking about having a well dug. Do you think they forgot anything? If so I’ll let them know.

  7. Sister Seal…you are 100% correct. It is up to each of us to look after ourselves and our loved ones. You are such a beautiful and wise PURRlady with OH SUCH GORGEOUS EYES
    Hugs Cecilia

  8. We are so fortunate where we live. We are not affected by floods though they happen nearby. And there has never been a wild fire. There have been some serious winds but little wide spread damage. But it’s good to have a plan in place.

  9. Mornin’, Seal – An important and timely message from you today with all the terrible weather conditions. Thank you!

  10. Oh, beautiful Seal…you have a very important message. We pray and cross paws for all those we have seen on TV who have suffered losses…may we all be prepared, but never have the heartbreaking occasion to need it. Sending hugs…

  11. Thank you always for a heads-up in neighborhoods because believe me, they will get NO help from a disbanded FEMA and a maniac who praised the flood managers in Texas…no warnings given by them until way too late. Thank you.Neiborhoods have to help themselves, alas.

  12. Totally agree, we need to be prepared and agree that we shouldn’t expect help from “them”! Same over here too Seal.

Can you believe it was 32C here today in little old Scotland!! Way too hot for us over here.

And hope you found something good on the TV :-D

  13. Yes, here they warn us not to expect help. Be prepared to go it alone. Thanks for the PSA.

  14. your cats and images of them are really beautiful. seals eyes are so pretty, such a lovely shade of blue!! it’s been so stormy everywhere…here in new jersey we have just been getting a lot of rain!!

  15. Great advice, Seal. It’s more ‘impawtant’ than ever to have an emergency plan in case we experience a worst case scenario. Thanks for the reminder. I’m going to have Mum update our which was specific to caring for Elsa and her seizures. Now that she’s an angel, we need to make update our emergency bag.

  16. Charlee: “This is great advice, Seal! I definitely have a plan for emergencies!”
Chaplin: “Is your plan ‘hide under the sofa’?”
Charlee: “Of course, what else would it be?”

  17. You are very wise, Sister Seal. We seem to be having a lot of weather catastrophes more and more often. Every night on the news, we hear about tragedy and pain somewhere in our country. Our peeps do try to be prepared, but sometimes things just happen so fast.

    Take care.

  18. Thank you Seal for this most important post! I have a tote bag packed with cat and dog food, water bowls……we have been using this during thunderstorms. I need to have a first aid kit in there as well. I also pack my purse, phone, charging cable, check book, keys……and I make sure I have shoes on!
