Today we are all thankful for the survival of our ferals. A few weeks ago we had ice storms, sleet storms, snow storms and brutal cold. Our ferals are around 12 years old now and as long as they have been alive it has not been as cold here as it recently was this year. We were all worried about them and were pondering what we could do to help them through this ordeal. The Dad and Mom both offered them the chance to come inside, but they were having nothing to do with that, too scary for them. Finally the Dad and Mom figured out how to offer them access to our garage and believe it or not that was an acceptable alternative to them. The Dad put food and water in the garage and even put one of our security cameras in there to keep tabs on them. We are so thankful they made it through the brutal winter, they are important to all of us.

  1. Maxwell, you’re looking extra handsome today. We’re so glad your ferals made it through that brutal cold snap. How awesome that they found the garage acceptable! Please give your mom and dad some extra headbonks from us for looking out for your feral family.

This sentence ” Finally the Dad and Mom figured out how to offer them access to our garage and believe it or not that was an acceptable alternative to them. The Dad put food and water in the garage and even put one of our security cameras in there to keep tabs on them.” Made me so very very happy and thankful for your dear sweet devoted parents. They have made the ferals feel so secure the took right to the garage.hugs Cecilia

  3. We all are hoping that Baltic Winter Air keeps itself to itself up in the NORTH from now on.
Purrs for your feral band; they are so fortunate to have you all as their carers.

  4. Maxwell, you handsome boy, we are so glad those ferals we’re willing to go into the garage! It’s wonderful that your Mom and Dad are looking out for them!

  5. I’m so glad that your ferals were willing to take shelter in your garage! Your mom and dad are wonderful people and whether the ferals realise it or not, they’re very lucky to have such good humans to care for them!

  6. Beautiful photo Maxwell. I am glad your ferals are hanging in there, I worry about all the wildlife on those super cold days we were having. Take care, enjoy your day!

  7. So glad your feral gang had access to a bit of a warmer spot to “over-Winter” since this year was extra snowy, icy and cold. They are a very lucky crew to have you watching out for them!

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy

  8. Maxwell that was indeed a lovely idea to fix the garage access for the kitties. 12 years old especially outside, makes a long hard life for a kitty. What’s wonderful is that your mom and dad keep them well fed year-round.

  9. We have wondered if you still were doing things for the feral cats as we used to hear about them all the time but we haven’t heard anything in a long time. If they are all older now, that must mean that there are not as many as there used to be which would be great! It’s so nice you were able to help them out in the super cold weather you had. Your parents are wonderful people.

  10. Great solution to help the ferals! One of our neighbors often leaves his garage door cracked open a few inches, and we think it’s for the same reason. The time Chia ran off and was gone all night we found out she had stayed there. At least now we know where to look if that happens again!

  11. I am so glad to read this, it is all I can comment on here today really. I am so glad to read about how you helped the feral family. That was genius! Thank you even from me, Katie (and Mom) for your hearts full of kindness and love for them.

  12. So happy you thought of the garage as shelter and that they took the offering, I am thankful they were safe from the cold and that all of you made it through the storms safely in your warm home. Our neighbor has an indoor out door cat, and they leave their garage door up about 5 inches for him to come and go at will. I fear for the cat because of our busy street

  13. We are so thankful for pawrents like yours who go out of their way to make things easier for kitties in need. We are also SO HAPPY the ferals made it through the rough Winter!
    xoxo,
Rosy & Sunny (and Mama too!)

  14. Chaplin: “We’re really happy to hear that your feral friends made it through the weather you’ve been having! It sounds really tough to be outside there right now, especially since you’re having like three or four winters all stacked up on top of each other.”

  15. A wonderful thankful. You two do so much for the feral kitties. Bless you.

Thank you for hosting the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous day and rest of the week. Scritches to the kitties and my very best to the both of you. ♥

  16. Mornin’, Maxwell – You are all indeed so fortunate to be loved and cared for by such a Dad and Mom who possess hearts that know no limits. I’m happy that your ferals have accepted the garage and are completely out of the elements. Plus security cameras!

  17. Thank you for this post! I’ve been wondering how your ferals managed during the storms and that bitter cold we had here in the Upstate. I’m happy to see they were happy to find acceptable shelter in the garage! Zen, Zoey, and I are all happy those few weeks are behind us, too!

  18. That is great that you all were able to give the ferals access to the garage and that they actually used it. So good to know everyone survived this brutal winter. We are thankful that we have seemed to turn the corner toward spring. 19. Max, Gabie is coming to play!

Mama is glad that the ferals decided to listen to her and that Good Looker actually looked in the sliding glass door even if she did run away every time your daddy tried to let her in.

  20. Your ferals are very lucky to have your Mom & Dad looking out for them. I’m sure they were happy to have access to the garage where they could are sheltered from the brutal cold.
